| Time, Invisible
but Dominating |
You can go from having a lifetime of it (whatever amount that is) to having only a month, week, day or minute of it left. The less you have, the more precious it becomes; right? |
| Making A Choice | Every day you get to choose, but why should you consider putting any time toward your spiritual renaissance, especially since when your feet hit the floor each morning you're already overbooked? |
| The Buffet
Table of Life |
Think of life as a very long and indescribable buffet table; and you start with a large and empty plate, (lots of time). |
| Youth and
Early Adulthood |
When you're younger, you put almost anything on your plate. The choices you make are not hard and are almost always based on how it's perceived not how good it is for you - like desserts. Very little nutritional value but they look great; and the fancier, the better. |
| Making the
No-Pressure Choices |
So, you go along filling your plate up; making seemingly no-consequence choices; like lifestyle choices, educational choices, recreational choices and yes, spiritual choices. |
| Adulthood
and Beyond |
There comes a time (and sadly in our society it's coming earlier and earlier) when your plate is full, but there's a problem; you're not done (hopefully) with the buffet. |
| Making the
Tough Choices |
Now you have to start making the tough choices; like what really needs to be on my plate? Will you make good choices based on grounded values or bad choices based on superficial appearances? |
| The Discipline
of Choosing |
Are you capable of taking things off your plate that have no substance, that are just filler; and more important, can you discipline yourself NOT to have a full plate, to leave room for what life offers you today? |
| Who Sets
the Buffet? |
The buffet of life is provided for you by God. He lays it all out, you get to choose. |
| Consequences | The choices you make directly influence
the rest of your life.
Every choice has consequences, your challenge is to be able to adapt and continue to make good choices, not give up and blame others or God for choices already made. |
| The Balance
of Life |
You see, the choices you made earlier in life, make up your physical, intellectual and spiritual parts. If you were lucky enough to be raised in a family environment that cherished, taught and respected all three, then you understand how life without a balance of all three has no sense of value. |
| Recreate
Balance |
If you were not that fortunate, then thankfully
you have yet another choice; you can choose to NOW start making the choice
to recreate the balance so essential to good physical, emotional and spiritual
health.
To do that we must be able to take off the "non nutritional" filler items and do two very important things: carefully choose only things of substance and leave room on your plate for what will be presented each day. |
| The Golden
Years |
Rethink this phrase to mean: that time in your life when you took control of your time; that moment when you became wise enough to know that carrying to much on your plate bogs you down; and that you will only have the opportunity to participate in what is happening in your life today if you have the time. |
| A Spiritual Renaissance | Take this opportunity to make the most important choice of your life; to either renew or create the environment necessary to be balanced, so that you can truly participate in God's grand banquet of life here in the united States of America. |
